Op dinsdag 17 oktober 2017 vond er een herbegrafenis plaats voor Rifleman Wiliam D. Evans of The King's (Liverpool Rgt.), gestorven op 28 april 1915, en begraven op Blauwepoort Farm Cemetery (Zillebeke, Ieper). De dienst werd geleid door The Reverend Paul van Sittert CF, Chaplain, The Highlanders (4 Scots).


A Rededication Service was held on Oct. 17 2017 for (Rifleman Wiliam D. Evans of The King's (Liverpool Rgt.), killed 28 April 1915, buried at Blauwepoort Farm Cemetery (Zillebeke, Ypres), 17 October 2017. Service attended by relatives of this fallen soldier. The service was lead by The Reverend Paul van Sittert CF, Chaplain, The Highlanders (4 Scots).

William Dickson Evans was born on 4 January 1892 in Everton and was the fourth child who was a plumber and painter. He went to school at Liverpool college and before he joined the Army he was a clerk with a marine insurance company. He had great ability and was an organist in Wesleyan Church and a member of the choir of St Columbia's Presbyterian Church.

William enlisted in Liverpool on 7 November 1914 as part of the Liverpool Brigade West Lancashire Division. He sailed from Southampton to Le Havre in February 1915 and joined the 15^th Brigade 5^th Division serving with the Expeditionary Force. His total service was 173 days before being killed on 28 April 1915 and buried in Blauwepoort Farm Cemetery Ypres with other soldiers of the same Regiment killed at the same time. However, the grave was later lost/destroyed.

There is no evidence to suggest he is buried elsewhere or that this burial was cancelled or altered. His relatives submitted a case in 2015 which has resulted in a headstone being placed in the Cemetery near the entrance saying 'Buried elsewehere in this Cemetery'. Members of the family were present at the service in 2017.

He is commemorated on the Royal Sun Alliance Memorial at the National Arboretum.
