First there was a mass at the Saint Martin's Cathedral (Ypres), led by Canon Henk Laridon.

Military Detachments, the Music Chapel of the 43 Infantry Regiment from Lille and no less than 58 flags (French and Belgian) were present. It rained cats and dogs. A very chilly wind. But the public was present to commemorate these brave soldiers for a last time. A gesture, truly appreciated by the Ambassador for France in Belgium, Mrs. Claude-France Arnould.
