A short commemoration took place on Friday 7 June 2024 at the New Zealand Memorial Park in Messines on the 107th anniversary of the Battle of Messines on 7 June 1917. The initiative for the commemoration came from the Embassy of New Zealand in Brussels.
Short addresses by mayor Sandy Evrard
and deputy Ambassador to Belgium Te Aniwa Setters.
Wreath laying by deputy Ambassador to Belgium Te Aniwa Setters,
mayor Sandy Evrard on behalf of the City of Messines,
Nathalie Dumon on behalf of the CWGC,
and Johan De Jonghe on behalf of the Passchendaele Society.
The Last Post and the Reveillie
And to conclude the national anthems of New Zealand and Belgium.
