Exposition 'Shot at dawn' - Poperinge - 02/09/2016
Life behind the lines: the calm is deceptive. There is time for pleasure but there is also time for court martials. In Poperinge several executions take place. Soldiers spend their last night in the prison cells of the town hall. Today the execution spot in the courtyard of the Town Hall is presented as an emblematical site. The 2016 exhibition places facts and figures in an even broader perspective. Anno Dijkstra, a contemporary artist from Holland, presents a new statue. The visitor is confronted with (fallen) heroism. A mobile app takes you to places with a specific story, not only in and around Poperinge but also to Ieper, Loker and Heuvelland. Writers from then and now place the executions in a poetical context.

You can visit the exhibition in de Gasthuis Chapel, Casselstraat, Poperinge until 13 November 2016.
And this every dag from 01.00 PM till 6.00 PM (closed on Monday).
Free entrance.
