In the afternoon of Sept. 15^th 2022 at Oosttaveerne Wood Cemetery, a rededication service was held for Lt. HARRY NOEL LESLIE RENTON. Lt. Harry Renton was killed in Action on 30 July 1915, aged 20, while serving with the 9^th Battalion The Kings Royal Rifle Corps (KRRC).
He was the son of James and Louisa Renton of Aspley Guise, Bedfordshire. When still a student he was a monitor and head of house at Harrow, a keen sportsman too. But war broke out, and instead of further studying, he joined the Army on 23 September 1914 as 2nd. Lieutenant, promoted lieutenant 5 month later. 
On July 30^th 1915, the KRRC took part in an attack at Hooge (Zillebeke, Ypres). In this attack
Two companies with Lt. Renton’s succeeded in capturing Trench G10 and when charging towards Old Bond Street Trench, all men were as good as wiped out by German machine gun fire. His major described Lt. wrote about Lt. Renton: ‘ he was a real soldier through and through, absolutely fearless, painstaking, trustworthy and his men loved him’. The original grave of Lt. Harry Renton couldn’t be identified. Later he so was reburied as unknown at Oosttaveerne Wood Cemetery. Research now has led to his identification and now rest at a known grave. The new headstone provided by the CWGC today was rededicated. The MOD War Detectives organised this ceremony which was attended by relatives of Lt. Harry Renton and which was conducted by Revd. Pritchard, Chaplain to the Forces.
Group Capt. John Dickson represented the British Embassy and 2nd. Lt. Hayder Al-Azzawi of the 8th. Bn The Rifles paid tribute to his predecessor of the KRRC.  Dear Lieutenant Rest in Peace for ever more.
 
Op 15 september 2022 vond op Oosttaveerne Wood Cemetery, een herinwijdingsceremonie voor Lt. HARRY NOEL LESLIE RENTON. Lt. Harry Renton sneuvelde op 30 juli 1915, slechts 20 jaar oud. Hij diende bij het 9e Battalion The Kings Royal Rifle Corps (KRRC).  Hij was de zoon van James enLouisa Renton van Aspley Guise, Bedfordshire. Hij was een goede student en vlotte sportman. Wanneer de oorlog uitbrak stopte hij zijn studies en nam reeds op 23 september 1914 dienst in het leger als onderluitenant. Hij promoveerde tot luitenant vijf maand later.
Op 3 juli 1915 was het KRRC betrokken in een aanval bij Hooge (Zillebeke, Ieper). In deze aaanval slaagden twee compagnies met Lt. Renton erin om Trench G10 (loopgraaf) te veroveren maar toe ze onder zijn leiding verder oprukten naar de volgende loopgraaf, Old Bond Street Trench,
His major described Lt. wrote about Lt. Renton: ‘ he was a real soldier through and through, werden ze zo goed als uitgeroeid door Duits machinegeweervuur.
Zijn major schreef: ‘ hij was absoluut onbevreesd, nauwgezer en vertouwvol en zijn mannen hielden van hem’. Het oorspronkelijke graf van Lt. Harry Renton kon later niet meer worden herkend. Hij  dan als ‘onbkend’ begraven op Oosttaveerne Wood Cemetery.  Onderzoek leidde nu alsniog tot de identifcatie en voortaan heft hij een gekend graf.  De nieuwe grafsteen wordt door de CWGC voorzien en verder vezorgd voor altijd. De MOD War Detectives organiseerde deze plechtigheid die werd bijgewoond door de familie van of Lt. Harry Renton en die geleid werd door aalmoezenier  Revd. Pritchard. Group Capt. John Dickson vertegenwoordigde de Britse Ambassade en onderluitenant Lt. Hayder Al-Azzawi van het 8e. Bn The Rifles bracht hulde aan zijn voorganger van het KRRC.  Rust in Vrede voor altijd Luitenant Renton.
