Reburial 2 unknown soldiers New Irish Farm Cemetery (Frank Mahieu) - Sint-Jan - 05/11/2019
At New Irish Farm cemetery, St. Jean, Ypres,  5 November 2019, two unknown British soldiers were buried with full military honour. One soldier served with the Essex Regiment and for this reason his successors  of the Royal Anglian Regiment performed the military protocol. These fallen men now rest amongst their comrades in a proper decent grave. Lest We Forget.  The service was conducted by Army Chaplain Paul Whitehead of the 3rd Bn. The Royal Anglian Regt. Scripture reading was done by Capt. Fowler (British Defence Attaché), Gospel reading by Major (Ret'd) Williamson (Essex Rgt. Museum) and a reading by Lt. Darby of the 1st Bn. The Royal Anglian Rgt.The collect of the Essex Regiment was recited by Major Williamson. The remains of these two soldiers were found between 2014 and 2015 at the site of Irish Farm. This site is located opposite to the cemetery on the other side of the N38.
