New Zealand Centenary opening ceremony Messines (Frank Mahieu) - Mesen - 07/06/2017
On June 7th 2017 on the occasion of the centenary of the 1917 Messines Mine Battle the commemorations
started with a New Zealand morning service at Messines Ridge British Cemetery and New Zealand memorial to the Missing.
The ceremony was attended by the New Zealand Governor General H.E. Dame Patsy Reddy, the New Zealand Ambassador to Belgium H.E. Mr. Gregory Adams, Belgian Minister of Defence Mr. Steven Vandeput, Minister president of Flanders Mr. Geert Bourgeouis, the Mayor of Messines Mr. Sandy Everaert and other civil and military officials from Belgium, New Zealand, France and other nations.
The colour party was done by the 2nd. Canterburry, Nelson, Marlborough and West Coast Battalion Regiment. The New Zealand Defence Force Singers and Maori Cultural Group and LAC Graham peformed musically.  The service was lead by NZ Chaplain Paul Stanaway.

Op juni 2017 bij de gelegenheid van de eeuwherdenking van de Mijnenslag van Mesen in 1917, begon de herdenking met een Nieuw Zeelandse ochtendceremonie op Messines Ridge British Cemetery en Memorial. De plechtigheid werd bijgewoond door de Gouverneur Generaal van Nieuw Zeeland Dame Patsy Reddy, de Nieuw Zealandse Ambassadeur Mr. Gregory Adams, De Belgische minister van Defensie M. Steven Vandeput, de Minister President van Vlaanderen Mr. Geert Bourgeouis, de burgemeester van Mesen Mr. Sandy Everaert en heel wat andere militaire en burgerlijke vertegenwoordigers uit België, New Zealand, Australië, het VK,  Frankrijk en andere landen.
De vlagparade werd uitgevoerd door  het 2e. Canterburry, Nelson, Marlborough en West Coast Battalion Regiment. De New Zealand Defence Force Singers & Maori Cultural Group & LAC Graham verzorgden de ceremonie muzikaal.  De herdenkingsdienst werd geleid door Chaplain Paul Stanaway.
