CENTENARY LONDON SCOTTISH MEMORIAL MESSINES / WIJTSCHATE
May 5th 2024, at Messines, the London Scottish P & D, military and members of their L.S. association, again paid tribute to their fallen comrades at the London Scottish Memorial in Mesen (Messines), a custom they do every 5 years since many decades. This year's ceremony was a special one because the memorial has its centenary anniversary for it was unveiled on 5 may 1924. The 1st Battalion of the London Scottish was the first British territorial infantry battalion to be engaged in fighting against the Germans in the war. They were brought to Messines-Wijtschate in typical London buses. During the fighting, between 30 October and 3 November 1914, the unit lost more than half of its men. LEST WE FORGET.

EEUWFEEST LONDON SCOTTISH MONUMENT MESSINES / WIJTSCHATE
Op 5 mei 2024 brachten de London Scottish P&D, militairen en leden van hun L.S.-Association, opnieuw hulde aan hun gesneuvelde kameraden bij het London Scottish Memorial in Mesen (Mesen-Wijtschate), een gewoonte die ze al tientallen jaren om de 5 jaar doen.  De ceremonie van dit jaar was bijzonder omdat het de honderdste verjaardag is van het monument.  Het werd immers onthuld op 5 mei 1924. Het 1st Battalion of the London Scottish was het eerste Britse territoriale infanteriebataljon dat in de oorlog tegen de Duitsers vocht. Ze werden in typisch Londense bussen naar Mesen-Wijtschate gebracht. Tijdens de gevechten, tussen 30 oktober en 3 november 1914, verloor de eenheid meer dan de helft van haar manschappen.
