Location
Nieuwpoort Communal Cemetery is located in the town of Nieuwpoort, which is 20 km south west of Oostende. From Oostende the N34 carries on to the N367 immediately after the King Albert Monument and the Achterhaven. 2 Km along the N367 Brugsesteenweg lies the cemetery, on the right hand side of the road.

Nieuwpoort was about the middle of the line held by the British XV Corps in June-November, 1917; and on this line, from Nieuwpoort Northwards, the attack known as the German Attack on Nieuwpoort fell on the 10th July, 1917. There are 70 Commonwealth burials of the 1914-18 war, 3 of which are unidentified. There are 31 burials of the 1939-45 war, 4 of which are unidentified, commemorated in this site.

The Commonwealth plots cover an area of 329 square metres and is enclosed by stone curbs. This cemetery is not an open site and access is limited by normal cemetery opening hours.
