Private Commemoration Jory - New Zealand Memorial to the Missing - Zonnebeke - 14/02/2018
14/02/2018 - Zonnebeke
Please find below some pictures of the visit on 14/02/2018 of the New Zealand Minister of Defence, the Hon Ron Mark. He was accompanied by Deputy Secretary of Defence Tony Lynch, the Commander Joint Forces New Zealand Major General Tim Gall, Ambassador Gregory Andrews, Brigadier Chris Parsons and Navy Captain Shane Arndell.
During the day the delegation stopped at Buttes British Cemetery at Zonnebeke. At the New Zealand memorial to the Missing a short ceremony was organized for soldier Jory Percy Joseph (n° 6/4279, 1st Bn. Canterbury Regiment) who died exactly 100 years ago in the neighbourhood. He was the only soldier of the NZEF who died on that day. Numerous standard bearers took part in the ceremony as well as a piper and a bugler. Wreaths were laid by different authorities.
