Remembrance for Father Doyle - Sint-Juliaan - 20/08/2022
On Saturday 20 August 2022 a commemoration took place for the Irish Army Chaplain Father William Joseph Doyle at the Irish Memorial at Hazeweidestraat, Langemark. The GPS 1917 organised the commemoration.

Father Doyle was a most couragous and selfsacrificing chaplain who saved and administered many soldiers no matter to what creed they belonged and surely worth a VC, however his Irish Catholic roots didn't lead to the VC . He was killed not far from the memorial on 17 August 1917 when both the 16th Irish and 36th Ulster Division attacked in the 3rd Battle of Ypres. He is commemorated on the Menin Gate Ypres.
