Rededication for Cpl. Willcocks (Frank Mahieu) - Ieper - 19/10/2022
Thursday 19 October 2022, again three rededication ceremonies were held. This time in the Ypres region.
I could only attend this 3rd one today in the afternoon at Ypres Reservoir Cemetery for Corporal GILBERT WILLCOCKS of the Army Service Corps. Gilbert was killed by a German shell that hit him when he was manning canteen behind the frontline. This happened on 28 November 1915. Cpl. Willcocks was only 24 years old. The ceremony was organised by the MOD War Detectives (JCCS*) and conducted by Army Chaplain Revd. Andy Nicolls. A few British Military attended as did some local official dignitaries and people dedicated to remembrance of the fallen. A group of British students visiting the region also took part and paid their respect. The new headstone was provided by the CWGC, the eternal guardians of all CW headstones and cemeteries. Rest In Peace Cpl. Willcocks, known now forever, remembered for ever.

Thomas Parry at Peth Cemetery (China Wall) in Zillebeke who served with the King's Own Scottish Borderers and who was killed on 4 June 1915 at the age of only 19. (see below)
