The Return of the Clans - Boezinge - 02/10/2021

On 2 October 2021 there was a ceremony in typically bad Scottish weather with a lot of rain for the Sutherland Clan. The ceremony took place at Artillery Wood Cemetery at Boezinge. Guide & Talbotousian Simon had researched the history of two lads from Caithness of the Sutherland Clan. The fascinating story of these two soldiers (stretcher bearers) with the same name, from the Seaforth Highlanders regiment buried side by side, did not leave anyone unmoved. Both were killed in the same shell blast on 22 September 1917. They were not brothers, but they were related through the Clan. The ceremony ended with the Pipers playing 'ode an die freude'. A beautiful tribute from the Clan Sutherland.
